The pirate lass

A new round of The Fantasy Collective opens tomorrow, and the theme is Pirates, so think Black Sails, Pirates of the Caribbean, Blackbeard, Anne Bonny and Grace O'Malley! Arrrghhh me hearties!

The very eerie rocks I'm standing on - including wrecked ship and skeleton floating in the waters below - are from Kalopsia. The Lost Pirate Island at original size is only 25 LI. I enlarged the scene though, naturally pushing the LI upwards.

The main outfit I'm wearing is The White Armory's Cabin Girl mesh bloomers set, which includes mesh boots, lace choker, and pirate hat. However, for these pics, I swapped it out for MeshedUp's pirate bandana and hat. The bandana includes two versions, one for wearing with the hat, and one for wearing on its own. You will need a nice sleek hair for a neat fit.  (A shrug from Indyra and belt from The.Plastik complete the look.)

Perched on my shoulder is the Mowie pet from May's Soul / Tentacio. This time he/she is decked out like a fearsome pirate, complete with hat, eye patch, and a hook for a paw. Arrrrr!

Round 8 of We Love Role-Play now open... and a new gown from TWA!

It's late (again!) so not too many words tonight.

Round 8 of We Love Role-Play has just opened, with discounted items from lots of your favourite fantasy and roleplay creators. This round, you will find some extra cheapies and freebies in celebration of the holidays. Check under the trees in each of the buildings.

Featured items in this post include skin from La Petite Morte, hair from Mina, and the beautiful Ensorcelled piercing necklace from Ellabella.

The gown isn't at the event, rather it's a recent release from The White Armory called 'Moors of Winterfell', and it's available in a range of different colours. I'm wearing 'Nightshade', a northern-feeling black and sepia combination!

Round 7 of We Love Role-Play has just opened!

Pictured here is the lovely Magi necklace from Ellabella, in the 'Spiritual' colourway. It's also available in black and green/purple. I think I'm going to go back for that one.

The skin is Elora from Bite & Claw. It includes the elf ears show here, bare feet, and three different tattoos (pictured in this post).

The antlers are another offering from Half-Deer at Enchantment, alongside the poisoned hair comb.

The gown is from The White Armory. Not a Ghost of a Chance is a limited edition, and only available till the end of November. It's a mixture of white and palest greys, and swathed in masses of ethereal ribbons.

The winter queen

It's late, so a very quick post tonight.

You'll probably recognise the crown and feather collar as GSpot's 'Nell' set for Enchantment. The cream option is shown here, but it's also available in black and gold.

Enchantment opens to the public on 1st November at 12 noon SLT - but you can join the Enchantment update group to take advantage of 12 hours early access.

Like the legend of the phoenix

I hope this post doesn't sound all braggy, but I'm kind of stunned to find out that I won The White Armory's fall photo contest. The reason I'm so surprised is because there really were so many wonderful entries, and any number of them would have deserved first place.

The photo started out as a representation of the phoenix (I blame Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky', playing everywhere all summer long). However, as I was working on it, the idea evolved and I created a Melisandre character (from A Song of Ice and Fire).

It took me a long time to figure out exactly how this colour differed from Coconut. Rightly or wrongly, I decided this colour had more grey.

The windlight settings might be pushing the outcome a bit too far towards "mauve" though as this gown from The White Armory (Paladin Crusader) is essentially white, with silver trims.

Oh dear, look how lazy I've been. No posts in almost a week, and back-to-back colour challenges. Tut.

Never mind, this week's colour is pink, and luckily I've lots of that in my inventory. The coat is from The White Armory and the boots come from The Secret Shelf. They're really quite old and probably outmoded in this age of mesh, but I still find them useful. For one thing, NO HUDS. Yay!

This colour presented something of a dilemma - the RGB colour values looked really different in-world compared to the hexadecimal codes for online. Hmm. I decided to go with the hex code colour, but it meant I had nothing to compare the outfit to in-world.

Anyways, Relay Purple (Softpaw explains all about this non-crayon colour here) offered another The White Armory gown a chance to step forward from the shadows of my inventory and shine!

Another week of the crayon challenge caught up with! Just Daffodil to go, then I'm up to speed.

Misty Moss was really tricky. I think I literally had only this one outfit which matched. (It's the Victorian Rhapsody gown from The White Armory.)

It was made a lot easier by my wardrobe inventory organiser. I so need one of these in real life.

Yes, I'm back! Lots of catching up to do (so much that I'm not actually going to bother with most of it), starting with some posts for the Softpaw's crayon challenge.

This week's is Coconut or as I've been thinking of it, not-quite-white. Hopefully this gown from The White Armory fits the bill.

I've accessorised with the Arachzis horns from Plastik and worn one of the Lionheart skins - so I'd have an excuse to tell you that the Plastik annual half price sale is on, until July 25. What are you waiting for? Go take advantage!

While we're talking about sales, the hair is from Magika, who are in the midst of a half-off sale. Check it out at the mainstore until July 10.

Love roleplay? Love shopping?

There's a new roleplay shopping event on the way, and I can't wait.

So many favourites will be participating in this event. Regulars will include The White Armory, Soedara, Roawenwood, Evie's Closet, Kouses's Sanctum, The Plastik, Silkworms, and Aeva/Heartsick. Guests will include Arwen's Creations, Fallen Gods, and Zaara.

That's just a small sampling of the stores involved. A lot of those listed I don't know so well, so it will be nice to discover some new stores. A full listing is included at the end (or you can read more about it on the We Love Role-Play blog.

A morning of pale spring

The days here have lengthened but are certainly "still clinging to winter's chill". So, while it's still too cold this Easter to comfortably spend time outdoors, there's lots of time to catch up on reading and explore what's new in SL!

The White Armory have just launched a new series of delicate elven gowns, with the first two in the series being the aqua-toned 'Heart of Grace' and the blush-tinted 'Elven Blessing'. Both feature gauzy shoulder capes and an empire line corset/stomacher with overskirt.

I threw the proverbial kitchen sink at this one with lots of layering; who would have thought 'grey' would be tricky to match?

Never mind, I'm sure that somewhere among the outfit's very many shades of grey (resisting the obvious pun) there is the perfect match for Outer Space.

It's already week 8 of Softpaw's challenge; aaargh, how did that happen?!

Happy Chinese New Year!

As it happens, today marks the celebration of the Chinese New Year, so the ideal opportunity to wear a couple of the new mesh cheongsams from The White Armory. As it features a dragon motif, it's called 'Year of the Dragon'

I've also managed to find a pair of killer heels hidden deep within my inventory, and they're actually free in world at the moment. Usually, I hate shoes. All that hud colour matching? I'm so useless at that! (I haven't gotten round to checking out Gos yet, but their new system sounds like a godsend to those of us who just aren't much good at editing!)

I'd been thinking of doing one of the '52 weeks' blogger challenges, and the whimsicality of the crayons appealed to me (who doesn't have fond childhood memories, or love the smell of crayon wax?).

Happy new gown year! To celebrate the arrival of 2013, I'm wearing the latest release from The White Armory - the breathtakingly beautiful Galadrial of Noldar.

Sale at Boudoir

There's a sale on at Boudoir until 9th November with 30 clothing items reduced to half-price, and there's also quite a few 100L offers near the store entrance, so it's a great time to visit.

In spite of the fact that Boudoir are best known for their fantastical and sometimes gothic creations (their mermaid outfits are spectacular), I kept things down to earth with this Black Lacquer Coat which I teamed with a gown from The White Armory.

Oh, hair and shape are Womenstuff hunt prizes, and you've got until 2 Jan to get around all the stores...

For the journey, her sisters plundered their treasure chests and bedecked her in the finest jewels and apparel: paua shells, labradorite, and precious metals.

Her gown is the very essence of the ocean, woven and crafted with mystery and magic. In its shimmering skirts are the greens and blues of sunlight on calm sea, in its bodice, the greys and silvers of cruel winter storms and moonlight upon the rocks.

A lot of silks and camisks lately, so to mix it up a bit, the Contessa gown from The White Armory! This gown isn't what you'd call a new release... in fact it's been lurking in my inventory since May.

To my mind at least, it's got something of an 'ancient worlds' feel about it, so I teamed it up with some satisfyingly chunky pieces from Aidoru's 'Egyptian Dream' jewelry collection (very kindly passed to me by owner Jaraloy Swords).

One of the great things about this gown is that it includes two colour options, so you're basically getting two for the price of one!
