... in a dress

One of Junbug's most recent releases is the Vintage School Dress, which is not only super-cute, but dedicated to a very special cause.

The proceeds go to the charity Do It in a Dress, which supports the education of girls in Africa, and you can choose to pay between 250L and 400L for each dress. You should definitely visit their site - not only is it informative and inspiring, but there are some hilarious visuals of people undertaking activities in school uniform dresses.

You can pick up a special pink edition at the current round of Kustom9 or choose from one of five colours at the Junbug mainstore.

The Junbug campaign page, showing the running total raised by this outfit, is here. The campaign itself runs until 7 December.

Autumn sunlight

The Fantasy Collective has just opened, and for me, one of the standouts is the Lucrezia hairstyle from Tableau Vivant - it's an ornamented updo with optional ponytail attachement. You've probably seen that the colour packs were recently revamped, and I am loving the new basics collection. You get 30 different shades, running the gamut of natural hair tones, and also featuring some ombres. Bonus: the basics pack is the same price as all the single-colour packs.

I definitely think all hair makers should offer "basics" or "naturals" packs. Personally, it definitely factors into whether or not I buy a hairstyle from a particular maker. For instance, there's one creator who regularly produces beautiful styles, but you have to buy a fatpack, or a single tone pack of four shades. That certainly makes me think long and hard about spending my lindens!

What do you think - are you faithful to one hair colour, or do you prefer mixed packs?

FF2014: The Woodlander

A woodland look today, gleaned from Fantasy Faire's offerings.

The outfit is a combination of items from Fantavatar & Moonstruck and Poet's Heart; with a necklace from House of Rain, tatoo from LaNoir Soleil Designs, and staff poses from Hopscotch. (Yay for staff poses! They are much needed.) The hair, meanwhile, is just one of the great new styles Wasabi Pills have out.

Full credits - and links to the relevant Fantasy Faire sims - after the jump.

Don't forget; the Faire only runs until May 11. Time is fleeting, so make sure you explore the beautiful sims before they are gone forever.

New round of We Love Role-Play opens tomorrow

A brand new round of We Love Role-Play opens tomorrow (by my counting, that's round 10, so congratulations to all the organisers and designers who've made it such a great event).

You'll find my hair (Mina), headdress (Keystone), and eyes (Musa - gacha) all there, and all discounted between 25% and 50% for the duration of the event. The poses are from the event too - the Huntress set from !bang.

The beautiful Grecian gown is another original mesh creation from Junbug, and you'll find it at the One Word event. This round is inspired by the word "tragedy", and the gown is called Electra, after the matricidal princess. The outfit is two pieces - the gown itself and optional shoulder drapes.

The staff is from EZ Weaponry. I'm a poser, not a fighter, so was really happy to see that with this item there's a purely cosmetic version included! Don't fret, naturally it includes all the other versions and gestures you need to do your opponents some real damage.

The legend of Miaoshan

Quick post today - some more items from the Chinese New Year festival which runs until February 21.

First up, is the lush gown from Junbug, named Quan Yin for the goddess of compassion. It's inspired by historic Chinese clothing, so it's a bit different from most medieval-fantasy gowns. But I think it could be a very stylish option for an aristocratic lady?

The poses are from the Mineko set by Posetivity. They include a fan, but I've not used that here, instead I've used some of the fans from Attic's gacha.

To survive

Lots more goodies from the Fantasy Gacha Carnival which opens in two days time. Armlets, boots and collar are from MeshedUp, the crown is from Distorted Dreams, and the mask from Black Pearls.
The fur outfit is from gO, staff from Stitched Gods, and skirt/belt from Keystone.

If you're impatient, you can grab the ears now at The Fantasy Collective) and there's still time to get to the current round of Collabor88, where you can find this hair from Clawtooth.

Winter is coming

Do you like my direwolf? I promise she won't bite - unless I tell her to.

Strictly speaking, she's not a direwolf, but the 'My Wolf' pose prop from Captivity Co, available exclusively at the Enchantment event which opens on 1 February. Just rez your wolf, sit, and choose

This round is inspired by the story of Little Red Riding Hood, so there are lots of red, black and grey colour schemes, and lots of wolf motifs.

You'll find one such emblem on the flower headdress, which forms one part of Enfant Terrible's offerings. It's available in many different colours - you're going to have a tough time choosing.

Opening on the same day is the Fantasy Gacha Carnival (did you think you were going to have any linden dollars in March? Hah!). I'm wearing a bunch of items from there also, including the Ferala chain necklace from May's Soul and neck-corset from Teriotrope.

I'd let you win my heart again

Luminary recently sent out the teasers for their offerings at the upcoming Fantasy Gacha Carnival event, which opens on 1 February.

This round is themed 'Winter Wonderland', and Augurer explained that she was inspired by Shakespeare's 'The Winter's Tale', the story of an insanely jealous king who believes his queen to be unfaithful, and so condemns her and their infant daughter. (At the end of the play, both mother and daughter and restored to their rightful positions.) There is a theory that this play was inspired King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, while the princess represents Elizabeth I, Shakespeare's great patroness.

The initial necklace is the common from the gacha and is inspired by famous portrait of Anne Boleyn. You'll probably need to get a few friends together for a swapping party to make sure you get your letter! The crown is the rare item, and there are three different colours if you want to chase them all down.

Misery and mountains, arrows and bows

I can't keep up with all the fab new releases at Soedara - this outfit, Mountain Dweller, is about three releases old now, at least.

It's another great winter outfit, including short and long cloaks, mesh skirt and two versions of a mesh top, uggie boots, armwarmers, circlet and a horn. There are two versions of the horn - one is scripted so click it for horn-blowing animation and sound (it's pretty fun).

The outfit doesn't include the thigh pouch (part of Soedara's Nudzahui) or the dagger (old hunt prize from Primus).

By the way, I love the skin in these pictures. Lorde from Essences is just out at The Dressing Room Fusion for the bargain price of 70L. There are three different makeups, but unfortunately my Lindens ran out after the first one! (I tried to buy more, but got an error. Grrr. Oh well, TDRF is open for a couple of weeks...)

More from We Love Role-Play

Some fabulous stuff in this round of We Love Role-Play. I have to admit to really liking everything in these pictures.

The hair is from Calico, and it's another fabulous style. This colour is from one of the new W<3RP exclusive packs (bistre from the Darks pack). As well as changing your hair shade, the hud allows you to tint your hair, and to change the colours of the headband, the beads and the metal dangle. I just love the textures in this hair too - honestly, they look so real.

The jewelry (Chloes Collier necklace and silver cuff bracers) from Enfant Terrible are also really customisable. They're available in five base colours, and once you've bought your set you choose from any of 12 textures, or two (necklace) or three (cuffs) sets of gems.

New from Soedara - Romea mesh silks

TGI almost Friday... I'm exhausted! With that in mind, I'm just going to very quickly tell you about this recent mesh release from Soedara.

Romea is a set of mesh silks especially suited for those roleplaying in ancient Greece and Rome, and it comes in high and low caste variants. (There's also a sister set, not photographed here, called 'Of the Plains' which is more Gorean and features lots of earthy colours and different accessories.)

One Voice: Shahrazad harem/bellydance outfit from The Looking Glass

Another cute fantasy outfit at One Voice - this time, Shahrazad from The Looking Glass. It's available in four colours, but this aqua version (called Paua) was the one that spoke to me!

You can wear it stripped back as a set of ornate silks, or add some extra layers to turn it into something like a genie outfit with harem pants, bolero jacket, and arm bracers.

I blinged the outfit up with some jewels from {me.}, and used the flamenco poses (which include the castanets I'm wearing!) from WetCat. Everything on the avatar is a One Voice donation item, details below!
