Last days

It's the last days of the year, and the last days of the month... which means the current rounds of many events will be over soon.

Earlier in the month, I grabbed a few pieces from We Love Role-Play, among them this gown from Evie's Closet and the Faunus Crown headdress from Gauze & Trap.

There are lots more amazing things this round that I probably won't get the chance to feature, but do make the effort to get down there before the round finishes on 31 December, to take advantage of the discounts.

The choker I'm wearing is from Sweet Thing at The Arcade, from the Song of Swans collection which has some really nice pieces. It's 50L a play, which is reasonable.

In contrast, I definitely think some of the machines at The Arcade can seem overpriced - specifically some of the ones priced at 100L (nb some, not all! 100L for a quality skin is still a pretty good price).

I noticed a version of the Drift's De Vrouw vest at The Dressing Room Fusion but didn't like the colours available there, so I tp'd to the mainstore and picked up the the 'Wildlife' version instead. It's hud controlled, with 10 colours, and you can change both the fur and belt. For 195L, it seems like pretty good value.

Full disclosure - you can't see from the picture, but as the Evie's Closet gown is quite 'poofy', the Drift vest doesn't fit ideally over the rear. (The vest is perfect with slinkier gowns though, I tried with a bunch.) You can get away with this for a photo, but just in case you were considering buying the items to wear together... try the demos first!

One thing I noticed when trawling through my inventory for this look is that there definitely seems to be a shortage of nice elbow length gloves (why are they all latex?!).

Most of the detachable sleeves and armwarmers I own seem to be from the same or very similar templates, which is a little dull. The Blogging Elf mentioned a new set from Stitched recently, so I must go and check them out, but...

If any creators are reading this, pretty please make some nice new gloves and armwarmers for us?!

I think it's snowing

I recently stopped by Creation.jp and left with a considerably lightened wallet as there were so many cute things.

This vest or shrug from Gizza was designed as a contemporary item, but inspired me to put together a wintry look for a slave or panther.

Fortunately, snow in SL isn't all that cold, so you can run around with bare chest, tummy and thighs, even if you do inspire shivers in onlookers. Otherwise, you could always just layer it over some warmer clothes.

Also at Creation.jp are some fabulous new windblown hairstyles from Tableau Vivant. This is Harukaze which includes both male and female sizes. The other is Breeze, which you can buy for either male or female avatars.

The socks are actually from last year's Frost fair, by Lapointe & Bastchild. They come with a colourchange hud which allows you to turn the pompoms off, but I just had to leave them on...

Witch in winter

I finally got round to exploring the 30L Midwinter Fair yesterday and I was seriously impressed. There's lots of great shopping there, gachas for 30L a pull, 30L items for sale, and lots of dicsounts.

If that wasn't enough, there's a whole pile of free gifts for you under the tree. I haven't even unwrapped those yet.

I'm wearing a dress (common) and leather top (part of the rare) from May's Soul Derire gacha.  Sleeves are from a slightly older gacha by May - Arcana, which will soon be re-appearing at the mainstore.

The cloak (second and third photos) is from the Junbug gacha. I was lucky enough to get the uncommon black on my first pull. The rare white cloak is gorgeous, but I've given up chasing rares for the sake of my linden balance!

The fair runs until 24 December, so try and take a break from midwinter madness to check it out.

Seafoam

This month's round of Collabor88) is themed 'Snow Day' and one of the featured colours is a beautifully frosty seafoam / aqua tone. I grabbed this shawl from Baiastice and the long mermaid skirt from Fashionably Dead to put together this modest look.

I delved deep into my inventory to add a short dress from u.f.o, top and sleeves from On a Lark, and a flexi skirt from an old FallnAngels outfit.

The hand jewels are an older design from Crystal Line. They're not intended for Slink hands, but with a little tweaking you should get a reasonable fit on at least some of the Slink hand models.  I'm wearing Casual and Elegant hands in the pictures.

Headdress is from Modern Couture, and the beanie hat I'm wearing as a hood comes from a Soedara outfit, tinted to match the shawl.

Finally, if you're super-quick you might still be able to catch the poses on special offer for Lazy Sunday at Ma Vie.

Winter snug

This yummy coat is the current  We Love Role-Play offering from May's Soul.

Frankly, this coat looks so unbelievably snug that I wish had one RL! However, at least in SL, no fluffy animals were harmed to make this coat, which makes it easier for the vegetarians amongst us.

The mittens are a free gift under the tree at the event - just join the update group and help yourself to some awesome goodies.

I'm also wearing my trusty Arachzis horns from The.Plastik and Dyisi boots from Evie's Closet. Neither are new releases, but they're both items I turn to again and again. Does that make them classic?!

Wednesday 10 December 2014

Gypsy

If you've been living under an in-world rock, you might not have heard that Truth Hair currently have a massive sale on, until 15 December. Everything at the mainstore is 50%, even the most recent releases. (The exceptions being those styles which are currently exclusive to various events round the grid.) So now is the time to stock up on anything you may have missed!

Also, Leafy skins are back on the grid, and there's another sale. You can pick up a gacha skin for as little as 40L, or 'standard' skins are up to 175L, with big reductions on fatpacks as well. Hopefully this means there will be new skins - and appliers! - soon.

Clothes are from Senzafine, jewelry from Zaara, and the belt is part of an outfit from Evie's Closet.

Free in December

It's the most wonderful time of the year... for gifts in Second Life of course!

Once again, you'll find a series of Advent Calendar gifts at Alice Project. Each day, you'll find a different gift under the tree (there are two gifts, one for group members, and one that anybody can take).  The styles are beautiful, and have a seasonal touch with red and green streaks through the hair.

I picked up a couple of great gifts while on the Peace on Earth hunt. My outfit (gown, hair accessory and armbands) is from Bubblez Style, and skin is from WoW Skins. All the prizes on this hunt are 0L.

Some designers have also put out gifts at Totally Top Shelf - most of these are near the landing point. That's where the wings I'm wearing from, courtesy of Chimeric Fashions.

Other gift locations include the current rounds of We Love Role-Play and The Arcade (I might wear some of these in a future post).

Double trouble

This is my first attempt at a double avatar photo, using some of the tips in this tutorial.  I might try this technique again, it's quite useful for showing off a lot of stuff at once.  Editing the images together is super easy, but I did have to mess around quite a bit in-world.

Anyway, what I'm showing off in this post is my Black Friday haul from The.Plastik,The sale runsuntil 23.59 on Monday, so if you have any linden dollars left, do not miss it.  There's between 30% and 50% off almost all the clothes and accessories, so stock up. Fatpack prices have also been slashed

Also, please note that today is the last day of this round of Enchantment - which also means its the very last day you'll ever be able to get your hands on any of the exclusive prizes.

Wednesday 26 November 2014

Miss Miller

Time to get your skates on - there are just four days left for the Rumpelstiltskin round of Enchantment.

In these pictures, I'm wearing both of Dead Dollz's offerings. First is The Miller's Daughter Choker, which is the item for sale.

It includes a stamp card, which you can complete by visiting all the participating stores and tagging the card. Then you can exchange it for any of the prizes in the special prize location. (Full details on the official Enchantment blog.)

This brings us to the Dead Dollz second item - it's the special exclusive Enchantment prize, The Miller's Daughter gown. Isn't it beautiful?

As one of the special prizes, it will only be until the end of November. After this, it will disappear into the ether, never to be seen again.

The fur shrug I'm wearing is from The Annex - it's another special Enchantment item, while my eyes from Adored are another Enchantment prize.

The armwarmers/sleeves are from Junbug, from the Midnight Fae gacha at The Secret Affair. Don't miss this one, because the price for play is set to only 30L for the duration of the event. The prizes include sleeves, wings, and fabulous gowns. This round also ends on 30 November, so don't miss out.

Oh, and a slightly early Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating!

Friday 21 November 2014

FLF reminder

Super quick post to remind you to take advantage of Fifty Linden Friday before it's too late.

There's another outfit pack and Slink nail appliers from The.Plastik. I'm wearing just one version of the corset, boots, and horns in the pictures, but there is so much more included. A rough count suggests 22 different items, including jewelry, long skirt, and five different styles of the corset. As always, a ridiculous steal for 50L!

Other offers you shouldn't miss -  a smokey-eyed skin from Belleza, and poses from oOo Studio and !bang.

Thursday 20 November 2014

Celestial grace

The Fantasy Collective has just opened, and this round is inspired by the theme 'Celestial'. The designers have really stepped up to the mark, so expect to leave this round with heavily loaded armfuls of ethereal gowns and accessories.

For me, one of the outfits I simply couldn't miss was Valentina E's 'We are all made of stars'. The outfit consists of a base gown, an overgown, and a crown (crown not shown here). Each of the items is sold separately, so you can decide exactly what you want to spend your lindens on, and how you'll incorporate the pieces into your inventory.

... in a dress

One of Junbug's most recent releases is the Vintage School Dress, which is not only super-cute, but dedicated to a very special cause.

The proceeds go to the charity Do It in a Dress, which supports the education of girls in Africa, and you can choose to pay between 250L and 400L for each dress. You should definitely visit their site - not only is it informative and inspiring, but there are some hilarious visuals of people undertaking activities in school uniform dresses.

You can pick up a special pink edition at the current round of Kustom9 or choose from one of five colours at the Junbug mainstore.

The Junbug campaign page, showing the running total raised by this outfit, is here. The campaign itself runs until 7 December.

Golden girl

Some more items from Enchantment to show you... and also a brand new outfit from Soedara.

Adored Bodyshop have produced a nice cosmetics collection for this round. I'm wearing the Gilded eyeliner in Princess, and the Golden Girl nails for Slink hands and feet. At their store, you'll also find a set of smoky eyeshadows and some metallic lipcolours (not shown). Their prize is a set of eyes - the Firstborn eyes - containing six different colours of system and mesh eyes. (I'm wearing goldenbrown.)

Modish, meanwhile, have released a set of eyebrow tattoos (Mesh Project compatible, not shown), and their prize is the Auric gold jewelry set of earrings and bangle.

Soedara's latest outfit is Aegle Nymph of the Evening set of mesh silks. In the box you'll find the mesh top and skirt in standard sizes (plus a bonus top to accomodate your Lolas, etc).

There are several huds giving you tons of customisation options. You have four choices of fabric tint, and change its transparency, which also means you can wear the top and skirt as necklace and belt instead, if you want. The hud also allows you choose between bead colours and 13 jewel colours, plus four colours of metal.  Also included is a pretty circlet in three colours (gold, silver and bronze).

The expectant queen: More from Enchantment

A quick post to show you some more items from the upcoming round of Enchantment.

W.Winx & Flair have produced some pregnancy-themed poses for this round as their in-store exclusive. The set includes poses with hands protectively cradling tummy, or supporting a tired back! They inspired me to take these shots of a pensive queen... perhaps remembering the bargain she made, to surrender her firstborn infant to the imp known as Rumpelstiltskin.

The circlet I'm wearing is the Rumple Tiara from Wimey. It represents the straw which the miller's daughter had to weave into gold, and it comes with a colour change hud for the tiara's gems.

Finally, the necklace and ring are from yumyums. Regarding the necklace, there are 11 different gem styles to choose from, while a hud lets you change the metal of the ring and the gem surround, and the colour of the leather cord.

Enchantment preview: Rumpelstiltskin

The new round of Enchantment - the stamp card rally with fairytale theme - opens in November.

The inspiration behind this round is Rumpelstiltskin. A poor miller lies that his daughter can spin straw into gold. Alas for our heroine; the king believes him and has her locked up in a tower room full of straw, and a solitary spinning wheel, so that she can increase his net worth by morning... or have her head chopped off.

Rescue shows up in the shape of imp, who spins the gold in exchange for her necklace, her ring, and finally the promise of her firstborn child when she is queen.

A year passes, and the new queen has forgotten all about the imp, and gives birth to a beautiful, much loved child. The imp suddenly appears and demands that she relinquish the infant to him, although he offers her a second chance: if she can discover his name in three days she can keep the child.

Autumn sunlight

The Fantasy Collective has just opened, and for me, one of the standouts is the Lucrezia hairstyle from Tableau Vivant - it's an ornamented updo with optional ponytail attachement. You've probably seen that the colour packs were recently revamped, and I am loving the new basics collection. You get 30 different shades, running the gamut of natural hair tones, and also featuring some ombres. Bonus: the basics pack is the same price as all the single-colour packs.

I definitely think all hair makers should offer "basics" or "naturals" packs. Personally, it definitely factors into whether or not I buy a hairstyle from a particular maker. For instance, there's one creator who regularly produces beautiful styles, but you have to buy a fatpack, or a single tone pack of four shades. That certainly makes me think long and hard about spending my lindens!

What do you think - are you faithful to one hair colour, or do you prefer mixed packs?

Desert dancer

So, I'm back! It seems like there's been an insane amount of stuff happening event-wise these days. Unfortunately, my SL is very laggy (is it the ridiculous inventory I'm dragging around?) so exploring is not so much fun.

Anyway, less complaining, more fashion.

Vurdah of the Desert is a recent release from Soedara, and it's funky mesh top and harem pants combo. a You get three versions of the top; in these photos, I'm wearing the slightly-sheer version. Also included are the belt, anklets, bangles, upperarm bands, face chain and diamond bindi.

(PSSST, the gold colour of the outfit is 160L, almost half price, on the marketplace as a promotion. I don't know how long this will last.)

Fifty Linden Friday again...

My favourite Fifty Linden Friday round is always the one which includes The.Plastik - and that's today. There are two special offers out today, one of which is the Raine outfit set. I'm wearing the dress and top from it in these pictures, but it also includes a mini-skirt, corset, boots, and puff sleeves, plus appliers... all for just 50L.

Also in today's FLF are the Connie sandals from Noodles, and the Trudy poses from oOo Studio (btw, there's a 50% off sale at oOo until 31st August).

Full credits after the jump.

Thursday 28 August 2014

More events!

A super quick post, just to highlight some ongoing events.

The chainmail vest I'm wearing is from The Forge,  at Tales of Fantasy. Be quick though, this round closes on 29 August.

Likewise, you have only a couple of days to shop Enchantment. I love this eye makeup from Tarnished.

Fantasy Gacha Carnival, where you'll find the dress, belt and cuffs from May's Soul, runs until 8 September.

Collabor88 is celebrating its third anniversary, which means even more goodies than usual. I spent all my lindens there, as the theme is Odyssey... meaning lots of classically-inspired items for Greek goddesses, including this hair from Lamb.

Enchantment: The trespass

So I have spare time and internet access for a couple of days... time to squeeze in a couple of quick posts!

August is drawing to a close, which means you have only a few days left to shop the current rounds of various events.

One of those is Enchantment, which this round is inspired by the tale of Bluebeard. You'll find special items at each of the participating stores, and packaged with each of these is a stamp card for the rally.

Wear your card or cards and click the stamp machine at each of the 20 stores. Each completed card entitles you to choose a prize at the special prize mall.  (Detailed instructions on the  official blog.) The prizes are extra special as they are exclusive to the event and will never be available again.

In these photos, I'm wearing the Jeune Mairee gown from The Muses, and necklace and headwrap from Frogstar.

The setting is the 'Skybox of Unfortunate Princesses', also from Frogstar, and in the background you can see the gruesome 'Bluebeard Bodies' prop from DRD.

Tuesday 29 July 2014

The victrix

Just a quick reminder that you have only a couple of days left before the July round of We Love Role-Play closes (the August round opens on the 6th, a couple of days later than usual). That's where you'll find this original mesh, clasically-inspired gown from Luminary.

Continuing the classical theme is the Christine hair from Lelutka which debuted at Hair Fair. The Trojan Necklace and Gypsy Bracers are both from The Forge. The necklace is strictly limited to 200 in quantity at Project Limited which opened on 20 July. The bracers first appeared at the Countdown Room but will probably reappear at the Forge mainstore before too long.

By the way, if you happened to glance at my profile, I mentioned that I'm travelling a lot at the moment, so not really blogging. I just happened to have a few days at home and managed to squeeze in a couple of posts. (Not fibbing about not blogging!). I might be able to squeeze in another post before the weekend, if not, see you in September or October... Inshallah!

Enchantment preview: Bluebeard

Fairytales in their original form tend to be gruesome, and Bluebeard - the inspiration for the upcoming August round of Enchantment - is more gruesome than most.

A young woman marries an infamous local aristocrat, possessed of and named for his blue beard. Soon after the marriage, Bluebeard tells his wife (unnamed in the story) that he must travel for business, and will be gone some weeks. He hands her to keys to every room in his castle, telling her she may access all the rooms except one, on pain of his anger and punishment.

Inevitably, the young wife breaks his interdict, and makes her way to the secret chamber discovering its horrific secret; Bluebeard has murdered his previous wives and hung their remains from hooks on the wall. She drops the key into a pool of blood, and try as she might, she cannot remove the bloodstain from the magical key.

Bluebeard then returns unexpectedly early, but the young woman is rescued by her brothers in the nick of time.

The Shield Maiden

The Fantasy Collective is now open!

This round is all about Vikings, so you'll find Northern-inspired gowns and tunics, horned helmets, and fierce accessories and furniture.

In the pictures I'm wearing hair from Tableau Vivant, shield and sandals from Noodles, outfit from Distorted Dreams, circlet from Keystone, and horns from OrsiniRed. The poses - which come with sword props - are from Mien.

Saturday 14 June 2014

The wandering stars, the wandering June

So I finally got a chance to log in (busy RL, SL not cooperating) and head over to Collabor88. This month's theme is nautical, and there are logs of fun things to pick up. Not least among them are this cool hair from Clawtooth (optional starfish attachment not shown) and top from Milk Motion.

Next on my list to check out is (Tales of Fantasy gacha event) where you'll find these horns from The Forge. The necklace is from Luminary and you'll find it at the upcoming round of Genre, which opens on June 15.

We Love Role-Play is still going strong, with everything discounted between 25 and 50%, including these pants from Paper Moon and the gorgeous bag from The Library.

Tuesday 3 June 2014

Cold as ice

The new round of We Love Role-Play opens tomorrow. Lots more quality items, all at 25-50% off. The rules for the event have changed somewhat, and new releases are now the general order of the day.

From the event, I'm wearing the Deucalion Halo from from Random Matter. You buy individual colours for 190L each, or splash out and get the 'fatpack' texture change version for 500L. With it, you can mix and match the colours as well as use each individual colour.

Alongside it, I'm wearing Keystone's Corva circlet, which includes four different shades. The stag pauldrons are from ieQED, while the belt is included with Luminary's Jane gown (50% off for the event). My spooky eyes are one of the three pairs of mesh and system eyes in  theSkinnery's Demon Eyes set.

My skin is from The.Plastik - it's another of the Astrali skins, this time in a fantasy tone. There are over 100 tones of this skin, and luckily there's an extensive appliers pack available for each.

My main outfit - a skirt and corset combination - is just one of On a Lark's 25L Tuesday offerings. It's been a while since I did the 25LT rounds, but On a Lark is always a must-visit for the amazing deals. You have just a few hours left to take advantage!

Monday 2 June 2014

Free stuff!

It's been ages since I did a free post so I thought I would do a quick one for anyone who's feeling the pinch.

The outfit, including jewelry, is from Soedara who have a 'wall of freebies' in the store. (There's also a lucky chair at the main landing point.) Most of the items you will have to pay 1L for, which is then refunded.

FabFree has updated, with lots of new gifts, and seems to be following a rotation system now. There are skins there from Lumae (formerly Aeva/Heartsick) and Seven Deadly S(k)ins, and also eyes from Mayfly, which I'm wearing in the photos.

I'm wearing the latest group gift from Lara Hurley skins - Gervaise in natural, which also includes appliers for Slink hands and feet, PhatAzz, and Lola's Tangos. That's a rare treat, and very generous!

Hair is a group gift from Tameless. It looks like it's a mesh style with embedded flexi pieces, but I'm not sure. You get natural and fantasy colours in the pack, which you can change with the included hud.

Both groups mentioned are free to join.

Friday 30 May 2014

Current rounds of Enchantment and We Love Role-Play end this weekend

A lot of events are ending this weekend, as the calendar changes from May to June.

One of these is the current round of We Love Role-Play (the new round will open on 4 June).
Just to be confusing, I'm wearing items from both the soon-to-end and soon-to-open rounds.

Currently available is the Zinga belt (with matching anklets, not seen) from May's Soul. Don't forget all items at We<3RP are discounted between 25-50% so take advantage of the opportunity to get it for less. Coming soon is the hair-headdress combination from Emo-Tions. (Note: The hair, horns, crown and face chain are one piece, so you can't wear or move them around individually.) The pack includes a hud which lets you change hair tone and the colour of the jewels.

The tunic/ camisk I'm wearing is a recent release from Soedara, called Siv of the North, and I'm not actually wearing half of what you get in the box. Each pack includes two colours of the mesh tunic in two lengths each, circlet, chore belt, rope belt, boots, and bracelets. Thre's also a clothing layer undershirt (to keep those nips covered!) and and armbands, which I am wearing.

Another event ending this weekend is Enchantment. The bracelets I'm wearing are from Boom, and they're one of the special, exclusive prizes you can choose when you buy an Enchantment item from participating stores and complete the stamp card contained within. This post on the official Enchantment blog explains the concept in five languages (English, Portuguese, Spanish, Japanese, and German).

Slurls to the stores after the jump, and you might like to check out this post on Seraphim which has some previews of the items.

Saturday 24 May 2014

Natsumi

Natsumi Girl is a new release from  Soedara, it's an Asian-styled 'dress' so perfect for Pani roleplay sims. The outfit includes five sizes of mesh, bracelets, and a hair flower. It's also a bargainous 150L.

I haven't tried layering it yet, I suspect it might work well as a tunic over trousers, but it looks like it might be a little too fitted for skirts and gowns.

Also, if you're not as out of the loop as I am, you probably already know that Aisling (or a i s l i n g) are celebrating their first anniversary. They've very generously put out a special collection of gifts, which includes this circlet and necklace set for women. (There's also a necklace for men, and a variety of decor items.)

This slurl should take you right there - Aisling anniversary gift - but if you do land at the main entrance, look for the special glowing teleportal! I'm not sure how long gifts will be out for, but at least one is a limited edition and the countdown clock reads 19 days.

Earrings (by Distorted Dreams) and Face jewels (from The Forge) are both available at We Love Role-Play while my foot jewels (Pure Poison) and fan are from Fantasy Gacha Carnival
Both events run until the end of the month.

Friday 23 May 2014

Fire and blood

A quick Targaryen-inspired look after a bit of an unscheduled, unintended mini-hiatus from blogging!

I'm wearing several accessories from Fantasy Gacha Carnival including pauldrons from Luas, headdress and necklace from Zyn, collar from Noodles, and poses and prop from Nantra. FGC runs until the end of the month, so plenty of time to get down there and work those gachas.

Clothes-wise, I've layered one of the Hanael tops, a recent release from The.Plastik, over The Library's Jessica dress.

The skin, btw,  is a special deal from Curio at  Collabor88 - you get four makeups in all tones of the skin for 888L.It's a rockabilly theme this round, so I didn't find much for me, but I can't imagine not going to check everything out...

Sunday 11 May 2014

FF2014: SSD

Today is the last day of  Fantasy Faire for 2014, so it's your last chance to wander the awe-inspiring sims and snap up some purchases in aid of the American Cancer Society.

In these pictures, I'm wearing a set of body jewelry from Sax Shepherd Designs (Hope's Horizon sim). This is the Nyx set in gunmetal.  Your set includes a forehead jewel, necklace, earrings, nipple covers (with a set pre-positioned for Lola's), belt, and a bikini bottom for modesty (!). There's also a hud which allows you to turn the modesty on or off, recolour it, and change the colour of the gems.

If you have some add-on silks, you can turn the jewelry set into some dancing silks. After the jump, I've used Soedara's add-on silks for the Adora Bejewelled outfit. These are perfect as you get several different lengths and style of silk, and front and back are separate so you can position them exactly as you want.

I've also added some hand and foot jewels from On a Lark, because I'm a sucker for hand/foot jewels...

Saturday 10 May 2014

FF2014: Fairytale

I took some photos at Fantasy Faire sim Hope's Horizon the other day, and noticed that the white tree near the summit was labelled 'RIP Daddy'. I'd be lying if I didn't admit that tears came to my eyes.

Sometimes, it's little touches like this that remind us what Fantasy Faire is all about. There isn't a single one of us who hasn't been touched by cancer in some way, whether someone dear to us has been taken too soon, or is bravely battling the disease.

While the funds raised for the American Cancer Society are vital, the Faire also gives us a chance to remember and honour those we have lost to the disease, and be thankful for and celebrate loved ones who have pulled through.

It's in this vein that Augurer of Luminary has included moving tributes with each of her RFL items and named the gowns for the women in question. I'm wearing Annette, a beautifully modest outfit, fit for a fairytale princess.

I've teamed it with House of Rain's Melt necklace and earrings, and I'm sitting on {anc}'s Fairytalebook pose prop. (You have to see this in-world; my photos don't do it justice, and it's a mere 4 land impact.)

Tomorrow is the last day of Fantasy Faire; so visit while you still can.

Friday 9 May 2014

FF2014: Peacocking

Due to time constraints, this is going to be a quick post, so here goes.

Today, from Fantasy Faire I'm wearing Paiva, a stunning gown and cloak outfit from The Muses. The outfit comes in four pieces; gown, fabric cloak, additional feather cloak, and feather cloak clasps, so you can mix and match.

The necklace is from BluPrintz (another new-to-me store) and the gem is colour change... to match your birthstone. I'm also wearing several items from LaNoir Soleil - the eyes, hair and horns. (I also added and tinted a random modifiable hairbase that was lurking in my inventory.)

Now, I know I've told you this before, but the Faire only runs until the 11th May - that's this Sunday. So please don't miss your opportunity to visit the beautiful sims and maybe even support the American Cancer Society by buying from the special vendors.

A couple of Fifty Linden Friday items in the mix too. The armbands are from Noodles, and the poses are the special offer from !bang. You'll find slurls to the stores linked in the credits at the end, remember the offers are only good for today!

I'd also like to draw your attention to the fabulous sandals, brand new from Pure Poison who are really turning out some beautiful add-ons for Slink feet these days.

Travelling girl

More from the Fantasy Gacha Carnival, which runs until the end of the month.

Again, the hair is Penelope from Calico, and if it looks familiar, it's because it's a variation on the Penny style which was released last winter. You have all the same colour-change options for tweaking the bandana and the beads, so you can get all matchy-matchy with your outfit.

Jewelry is from Frogstar's Marauder collection. I modifed the arm wrap a little, turning it from a wrist bangle to an upper armband. The chains around my wrists come from Haste, while the belt back is from Pucca Firecaster, and the thigh dagger is from The Forge. (I also tweaked the positioning of this slightly, turning the dagger from the front to the side.)

The top is one of the leather tunics from Aphorism. The rares from this machine come with an 'Arrow Attack' hud - activate it to see an arrow appear in your shoulder as you collapse to the ground, writhing with pain.

Boots and skinny pants both come from the The.Plastik. Both are actually from previous Fifty Linden Friday/ Lazy Sunday outfit packs... and why is this relevant? Because there are more fabulous goodies from Vae in this round of FLF, in the shape of another outfit pack and a fantasy skin. I haven't been there yet (and probably won't have time to blog them), but I can promise you I am going there right now!

FF2014: Like Niobe, all tears

I don't know the inspiration behind Alia Baroque's Lacrimosa avatars for Fantasy Faire, but they remind me of the legend of Niobe.

Niobe was another of the foolish mortals of Ancient Greece who angered an Olympian and was made to pay a terrible price.

Blessed with fourteen children, seven sons and seven daughters, Niobe boasted that this made her superior to Leto, mother only of twins Artemis and Apollo. Enraged, Leto sent her children to enact vengeance, and all her offspring were slain.

In her grief, it was as if Niobe had been turned to stone, though her tears continued to fall, becoming the river Achelous.

Fittingly, the skins for the Lacrimosa come with a weeping and non-weeping version (they also comes with a nip-free PG version!). The pack also includes matching tunic, eyes and various appliers, including Slink and Lola's.  A male version is available also.

You'll find Fallen Gods on their sponsored sim of Sanctum sim while the Faire continues. It runs until May 11, so don't delay. There are nine beautiful sims to explore.

A gown of green

Once upon a time, I read somewhere that "to give a maiden a green gown' was medieval slang equivalent to today's "roll in the hay".

Hmm. Well, perhaps you'll treat Junbug's lavish Freesia gown with a little more dignity... or not. This is one of the ultra-rare prizes from Junbug's machine at the Fantasy Gacha Carnival. Only 50L a pop, and it's stuffed full of common accessory prizes, rare gowns, and super-fancy ultra-rare gowns.

The hair is another Calico creation, and includes optional ivy wreaths and face jewels. The hud allows you to change the colour of the metal bands, the ivy leaves and the face jewels. Aaliyah is one of two Calico styles available at FGC (and both are cool).

The poses are also from FGC - part of the Dita set from Ilaya. The necklace though, is from AZE Jewelry Designs, and you'll find it at Fantasy Faire, which only runs until 11 May.

Love is blind... more from Enchantment!

More from Enchantment! (The event is still going strong, and runs all month.)

The charming and inventive fairytale gown is from The Annex . I love the subtle base colour, while the whole concept is really original. The skirt cage is like something from underneath a crinoline, but here it's outerwear, festooned with flowers.

Lark's wild rose accessories are so versatile, and could work for several RP characters - fae, slave, elf... even panther or wild girl. The armbands can be bought in the main Lark store, but the mask is one of the special prizes, which you'll only be able to obtain at the prize location with a completed stamp card.

My hairstyle is the main Enchantment release from Mina Hair  although I have to give you a heads-up... Mina's prize is a fatpack of a related style. The prize style concept is hair spread on a pillow, but it's also great for a windblown look. I actually used it for my water sprite look in the Naiad post.

Whenever you buy a special Enchantment release, you get a stamp card which entitles you to choose a never-to-be-available-again prize.  Get your card stamped at each of the Enchantment stores, then take it along to the prize hall.

IMPORTANT - you can wear as many cards as you like when getting them stamped, but only wear one card at a time when you are redeeming prizes. Otherwise, there will be tears.

I went into more detail on the process in this post, if you'd like to know more. Alternatively, it's also explained (in different languages!) on the official Enchantment blog. You'll also find a full list of participating stores - with slurls - there.

FF2014: My new shiny

This year, there are a number of Fantasy Faire blogger challenges. You don't have to be an official blogger or even a blogger to take part - if you'd like to know more, details are on the official FF blog.

This post is my shot for 'My New Shiny' - a challenge to find a store you'd never heard of before, and blog or photograph something you love from there.

Even though I haven't spent nearly as much time exploring the Faire as I'd like (must rectify that before it closes on May 11), I did stumble across two treasures.

First of these is the Fantasy Headdress and Collar from Unzipped (on the Asperatus sim). The set includes the filigree mask and sidepieces, the collar, and the black feather-y 'hair'. It's one of Unzipped's RFL items so benefits the American Cancer Society, and it's a very good deal at 400L!

Second is the Mystik foot jewel from Hollyweird, who are sharing a booth with Heartistic and Cutebomb (on the Mourningvale Thicket sim). I love foot and hand jewels, and this one is slightly different in that it's for Slink mid feet rather than flat... perfect for dancers, elegantly perched on the tips of their toes. Again, it's an RFL item, and 150L seems a fair price for such a pretty little trinket.

White silk

We Love Role-Play is now open!

I spied the pretty Elora mesh lingerie set from !gO! and thought the top especially would make a nice addition to my wardrobe. Perfect as an alternative top for any white silks. I love the ribbon that threads around and dangles in front. Mesh panties (not shown) are also included, and the set also comes in pale pink.

There's another great new release from Calico - this time it's a super long style. That is to say, it's superlong at the back, but the front is relatively short ensuring it doesn't hide your beautiful clothes or clash with your Lolas. Very clever, and very wearable.

I finally picked up the cheapie necklace from Kahli Designs, I don't now why it took me so long as it's only 50L and very pretty. Perfect for slave bina or a rustic look as it's beads threaded onto wicker laces.

Don't forget everything at We Love Role-Play is discounted for the duration of the event.

FF2014: The Woodlander

A woodland look today, gleaned from Fantasy Faire's offerings.

The outfit is a combination of items from Fantavatar & Moonstruck and Poet's Heart; with a necklace from House of Rain, tatoo from LaNoir Soleil Designs, and staff poses from Hopscotch. (Yay for staff poses! They are much needed.) The hair, meanwhile, is just one of the great new styles Wasabi Pills have out.

Full credits - and links to the relevant Fantasy Faire sims - after the jump.

Don't forget; the Faire only runs until May 11. Time is fleeting, so make sure you explore the beautiful sims before they are gone forever.

Fantasy Gacha Carnival is now open!

Fantasy Gacha Carnival is now open, so let the shopping begin!

In these posts, I'm wearing some stunning new foot jewels for Slin feet from Pure Poison, the beautiful Arabian Rose set from May's Soul, and bodysuit from Kun.

These are just a tiny selection from the fabulous prizes that await you at FGC!

FF2014: The Naiad

Tonight I'm a naiad... Outfit by Mermaid Treasure & Boutique, jewelry by AZE Jewelry Designs, skin by Niekra's Dreams, scales from Folly, and eyes by Musa, all from the Fantasy Faire.

The hair is a special Enchantment stamp card prize by Mina. Links to participating designers and stamp card instructions (in five languages!) on the official Enchantment blog.

Wow. Such colour. Much materials. Wow.

The Muses have put out four stunning gowns for the upcoming round of W<3RP, which opens on 4 May. There are four distinct styles but they share a common colour theme - orange, red and gold - and make for a really desirable collection.

Some people can be snobbish about about original mesh (I'm not one of them). When you see ravishing texture-work like this though, you can't help but think they're missing out. The 'materials' are beautifully executed too, with the golden parts having a real lustre under the light.

These outfits definitely have the 'wow' factor in my book, and I can't recommend them highly enough.

Also fabulous is Aiyana, a new hair from Calico. From the front, it looks like a simple updo, but at the back you'll see the braids wrapped and secured with flowers (colour change with hud). It's currently available at the Fit for a Princess Event.

The golden 'sandals' you can glimpse in some of the photos are Slink flat foot add-ons from Maxi Gossamer, at the April round of  Collabor88. The new round will be opening soon, but I imagine you'll be able to find them at the mainstore thereafter.

Finally, I added various bits and pieces of jewelry from Soedara to finish off the look.

FF2014: The Unseelie Queen

The Queen of the Unseelie Court has gone a-wandering in the gloom. Though richly robed and fair of face, her desires are as dark and twisted as the thorn trees in the shadowy thicket.

Fantasy Faire  2014 is now open! There are nine beautiful sims to explore, as you shop for a good cause - the American Cancer Society. You can read a little of the background here on the Fantasy Faire blog. Click on each sim title link for a list of stores and a map

My dark fae look comes courtesy of Aisling (the amazing headdress and collar), Evie's Closet (gown) and Folly (rainbow sheen and leaf tattoos). Eyes and hair are from Musa and Wasabi Pills respectively, and they're also at the Faire.

Slurl to Fairelands Junction - portal to the realms

Wednesday 30 April 2014

Marble halls

There are so many events starting in the next few days... I hope you have a lot of Lindens saved up.

Enchantment (which is no longer at a single location) opens on 1 May. This round is inspired by Sleeping Beauty, and this beautiful gown comes from Apsara (sister brand to Bilo and Jalwa).

The fairytale castle in the background is by Kalopsia - please note, it's a decorative item rather than a build, so it's not suitable for setting up home. It's land impact out of the box is 38, but of course making it bigger (it's mod) will increase that. It's perfect for adding a touch of magic to your sim!

Don't forget, any time you buy an Enchantment item, you'll get an empty stamp card. Fill it by visiting each of the participating stores to get your stamp, then tp to the secret location to choose your exclusive prize. More details on the process in this post.

The upcoming round of Fantasy Gacha carnival opens on 4 May. The pendant comes is from Things, and floral wreath is from Le Forme. Both are common prizes (yay!).

Also opening on 4 May is the new round of We Love Role-Play. Round 11 should be open until 31 April, so it's your opportunity to get this special edition of The Skinnery's Quiana at a discounted price. There are four additional fantasy tones available, so don't miss this chance.
